Each week a new writing stimulus will become available.  Read the instructions carefully as there are some variations each week.

The GATE writing tasks are designed to supplement GATE preparation that students are undertaking, but can also be used as practice writing on its own.  It should be seen as a supplementary activity and as such can only be completed once as it would be in the exam, not multiple times until the best possbile writing is reached.  In this Resource set you will have the following:

Weekly Writing Stimulus – The writing will need to be completed on lined paper and uploaded here Writing Upload to be marked by a qualified teacher with years of successful GATE preparation experience.

The GATE writing is marked on creativity, originality, flow of ideas and the students ability to express themselves through writing.  There are no marks in the exam for punctuation, grammar or spelling, therefore these will not be marked. The teacher will give constructive comments each week with the intention that those areas are worked on and shown in the following piece of writing.  Writing is not a topic that will improve overnight and it does take time and practice to become a top level writer.  Use the comments from the teacher to improve in all the areas of the writing and be patient.
