The GATE Mock Exams are designed to supplement GATE preparation and gauge where students might need some extra help when under exam time constraints. The exam starts with the reading comprehension, followed by the written expression with then quantitative reasoning and finally abstract reasoning. It is a great opportunity for the students to become comfortable with the exam structure and lessen any anxieties they might have about the exam. The stamina it takes to be able to complete all four sections in one sitting is very different to just doing practise questions. The Mock exams will be run exactly the same as on the exam day and will follow this structure:
Reading Comprehension – 35 minutes for 35 questions. All the questions are multiple choice and need to be answered by choosing an option from a – d. The texts needed for the question set will be below the questions.
A 5 minute break, after which the writing becomes available.
Writing Task – 25 minutes to complete a piece of writing using the given stimulus. This will need to be hand written and uploaded for marking here – Writing Upload We will mark the writing, give a score and give feedback as to where some improvements can be made.
A 20 minute break, after which the quantitative reasoning becomes available.
Quantitative Reasoning – 35 minutes for 35 questions. All the questions are multiple choice and need to be answered by choosing an option from a – d. The information needed for the question set will be below the questions. This will give vital information to be able to answer the questions.
A 5 minute break, after which the abstract reasoning becomes available.
Abstract Reasoning – 20 minutes for 35 questions. All the questions are multiple choice and need to be answered by choosing an option from a – d. In the real exam they will choose 1 or 2 different styles of abstract reasoning, we will not know what those will be. Therefore, our exam has a range of all the different styles so that the students have practise on all the styles so it will not matter which one appears in the real exam.
Read the instructions carefully before starting each section of the exam.
The exam is not designed as a teaching tool, it is designed to give students experience of the actual exam. This will only be beneficial if students are permitted the time to work through the questions without any parental help.
If you are looking for practise materials with answer explanations please look at our GATE Resources that are designed to help master the GATE style questions.
